The Sakaro Sunset Recipe

We created this cold coffee drink recipe to excite all the feels for longer days and warmer nights as we get ready to welcome summer later this month. Sakaro Sunset was created with Flash Brew Single Origin: Ethiopian Sakaro and will have you sipping California’s most cherished past-time, watching a coastal sunset with friends and family. This customizable beverage highlights the beauty of stone fruit along with the bright facets of our single-origin Ethiopian coffee.

Supply List
[yields 2 servings]    

  • 1 can Flash Brew Single Origin: Sakaro
  • 2 oz Peach or Apricot Nectar
  • 2 oz Cherry Juice
  • 1 Bottle of Ginger Beer
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Collins Glasses
  • Ice Cubes (large preferred)
  • 3 oz Dark Rum (optional)

  • Spoon


Step One
Fill each Collins glass with 3 large Ice cubes. If you have smaller ice cubes, fill each glass ¾ full.

Step Two
Pour 4 ounces of ginger beer into each glass if you are enjoying without alcohol and skip to step 4. If you’re enjoying with alcohol, pour 3 ounces of ginger beer into each glass and continue to step 3.

Step Three
Measure and pour in the dark into each glass.

Step Four
Pour 1 ounce of your preferred stone fruit nectar over the ginger beer in each glass.

Step Five
Pour 3 ounces of Flash Brew Single Origin: Sakaro over the nectar and ginger beer in each glass.

Step Six
Holding the spoon close to the drink surface, slowly pour 1 ounce cherry juice on the top of each drink. The spoon will float it, allowing it to layer on top of the ginger beer and nectar below.

Step Seven
Garnish each drink with a cinnamon stick, allowing ½ inch to stay above the rim and carefully use a lighter to ignite the tip. Allow to burn for a few seconds, then gently fan our the flame and serve. The smoke aroma will enhance the drinking experience.

Step Eight
Enjoy with friends, preferably while watching a beautiful sunset!
